Discover the beautiful green surroundings
For hikers are the surroundings of Neuerbug a paradise. There are several nice hiking routes to be found. Neuerburg is situated in the South Eifel natural park, which is the oldest natural park in Germany. The hiking trails are varied and thanks to the diverse flora and fauna, a special experience to walk. With the whole family, or a sporty individual. But also walking through and past the little town of Neuerburg with all its beautiful panorama views is a surprising experience.
Hiking trails through nature
Alongside the Enztal-Treff restaurant and the Aqua Fun swimming pool, there are two hiking trails that will leave you spellbound. These are hiking trails number 26 and number 30.
Hiking route 26 - Ammelding - PlascheidHiking route 26 is a magnificent panoramic hike of 12 kilometres through varied nature. For three and a half hours you will climb and descend through the beautiful landscape, through the valleys of the Enz, Grimbach and Emmelseifen. Over stretches of Jacob's route (in the direction of Santiago de Compostela), through forests, along the Enz river and with a panoramic view of Engelsdorf and Zweifelscheid. The hiking trail runs in a circle, so you will also end up at the swimming pool car park. Difficulty: Moderate |
Hiking trail 30 - Plascheid - Grimbachtal - NeuerburgAnother beautiful circular hiking route is route 30. This circular route takes you from Plascheid through the Grimbach and Enz valleys, back via Neuerburg and the Plascheider Berg. In between, you can enjoy the wonderful panoramic views and take a rest on a bench. This is sometimes necessary, as this is a sportive route with many ups and downs. You will be walking on beautiful forest paths, sections of cycle paths, narrow paths and steps. It will keep you busy for at least three and a half hours. Difficulty: Heavy |

Walking through and along Neuerburg center
We recommend the Neuer-Burg-Weg to discover Neuerburg even better. This route of almost 13 kilometres follows the medieval traces of the town. Over the rocky paths around Neuerburg Castle, with a view of the parish church of St. Nikolais. Past the Beilsturm, which used to be a watchtower, and then over the old weather wall "Koblenzer Pfad".
On this 3-hour hike, you will get a wonderful view from the panorama path and the Kanzel, into the valley of the Enz, into the heart of the picturesque town. The city park is a source of natural tranquillity that will recharge you with energy. The hike starts and ends on the market square, where you can also enjoy a snack and a drink as a reward after the sporty hike.
Difficulty: Heavy
Length: 12,7 km

Walking on the Enz cycle path
It is also possible to hike along the bicycle path, which is a former railway line. This cycle path has a maximum incline and decline of 3%, which makes walking with a pram or in a wheelchair easier. The cycle path runs from the supermarkets in Neuerbug, past the swimming pool, the Enztal-Treff snack bar and Camping In der Enz via Zweifelscheid to Arzfeld and Prüm.
Don't worry, although the path is asphalted, you will walk past beautiful nature and through former railway tunnels. You will meet cows, horses and a donkey and maybe even a squirrel. Also, the various birds will make themselves heard during the walk. You can make the walk as long as you like. You return via the same cycle path from where you started.
Hiking and camping in the surroundings of Neuerburg
Enjoy a long weekend or a lovely holiday in Neuerburg. How about a hiking holiday in the Southern Eifel? Just outside the town is Camping In der Enz, with sites for motor homes, caravans and tents. You can also stay at the campsite in a chalet or the Waldhütte.
