Fishing near Neuerburg

Would you like to go fishing? The nature lends itself well for it in the Eifel. So it is certainly possible, when you have made sure everything is in order.

What do you need to go fishing?

1. A 'general' fishing licence; the Fischereischein (Angelschein)
2. A local permit for the fishing water in question; the Genehmigung

Applying for the general fishing licence

You can apply for the Fischereischein for one year or for five years. For this, you need a passport photo and an identity document, and you can apply at the town hall in Germany.

The local licence

In addition to the general fishing licence, you also need a local licence to use the fishing waters. You can buy this permit at the location of the fishing water where you want to go fishing. You can apply for a day-, multi-day-, weekly- or monthly permit.

​Neuerburg itself has few fishing spots. A must is to go to the Stausee Bitburg. This is a beautiful reservoir in the village Biersdorf am See. But it is also possible to fish near Prum or in the Our.
